Why Invisalign is on the rise?

Traditionally, metal braces were the preferred choice for straightening teeth. Although these braces were the tried and proven method, they were never well received for their aesthetic appeal. Attempts to improve the look of braces lead to option such as clear braces and lingual braces (internal braces that sit behind the teeth). These alternatives certainly succeeded in improving appearance but the clear braces were found to be not entirely discreet and the lingual braces not entirely comfortable.

The Invisalign solution uses clear plates known as aligners that gradually move your teeth in a pre-determined position as you progress through the adjustment stages.

Their key advantage – solving the aesthetic appeal. It is hardly noticeable in the mouth, if at all, and it is also much more comfortable than braces. They can be removed for eating and drinking. Another key benefit lies with oral hygiene. Unlike braces, Invisalign can be removed for brushing and flossing.

Does Invisalign do the same job as braces?

The outcome really comes down to two main factors.

The first factor is great treatment planning. The predictability of what Invisalign can achieve has improved since being established in 1999. Using Clincheck, sophisticated computer software by Invisalign, our team can give patients a good idea of how their teeth can look. The feasibility of this result comes down to what is achievable and how the movement and aligners are planned.

The second factor is the compliance of the patient. If the aligners are not worn, Invisalign doesn’t work.
